Physician-directed hyperpigmentation care

A precise protocol for the skin you are ready to address.

The HFPS Protocol is a physician-directed, compliance-based medical skincare membership for hyperpigmentation correction—structured around your routine, product kit, and clinical check-ins. It is not a generic product shop or a content library.

Led by Dr. Susan Tan, MD, FACS · Honolulu, Hawaiʻi

The Hawaii context

Hawaii creates a skin problem most skincare cannot solve.

Year-round UV exposure, a patient population with melanin-rich skin types, and cumulative sun damage make hyperpigmentation the most prevalent and most undertreated skin concern on these islands. Melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and uneven tone are not cosmetic inconveniences — they are physiological responses to an environment that works against your skin every single day. Over-the-counter products, K-Beauty routines, and one-size-fits-all spa facials cannot produce clinical correction. A physician-designed protocol can.

The phase-based protocol

A deliberate progression, not a collection of products.

Each phase has a clinical purpose. The sequence helps keep your routine organized, your use consistent, and your next review grounded in the actual protocol.

  1. 01

    Skin strengthening

Before any corrective treatment begins, your skin barrier must be stabilized. This phase builds the foundation that allows corrective agents to work without triggering inflammation or rebound pigmentation. It is not the dramatic phase — it is the necessary one.

  2. 02

    Corrective

This is where real change begins. Physician-directed corrective agents — retinoids and targeted brighteners — are introduced at precise dosages in a specific sequence. Reactions are expected, normal, and a sign the protocol is working. Dr. Tan monitors your progress at every check-in.

  3. 03

    Titration

Corrective agents are never stopped abruptly. This phase gradually reduces hydroquinone while maintaining retinoid support, preventing rebound pigmentation and preserving your results.

  4. 04

    Maintenance

Your protocol does not end — it evolves. Maintenance keeps pigmentation suppressed long-term with adjusted dosages, ongoing sun protection, and quarterly check-ins.

How it works

Clear expectations from enrollment onward.

The protocol is built for consistency. Every component—from the required kit to check-in timing—has a role in the program.

STEP 1

A physician-designed protocol

Your membership follows a structured program created and directed by Dr. Susan Tan, MD, FACS.

STEP 2

A required product kit

The kit is part of the protocol—not an optional assortment—so each phase can be followed as directed.

STEP 3

Consistent AM / PM adherence

Clear morning and evening instructions create a practical, repeatable routine between check-ins.

STEP 4

Clinical check-ins every 4–8 weeks

Scheduled reviews support appropriate progression, questions, and adjustments throughout the program.

Physician direction

Designed under the direction of Dr. Susan Tan, MD, FACS.

Dr. Tan is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Honolulu. The HFPS Protocol centers on a defined program, with clinical direction and progression rather than self-directed experimentation.

The Hawaii context

Sun protection is part of the protocol, not an afterthought.

Honolulu’s year-round sun exposure makes daily, practical sun-protection guidance especially important. Your protocol reinforces the habits and product use that support careful management of sun exposure in Hawaiʻi.

Membership guidance is specific to the protocol. It does not promise a particular cosmetic or medical result.

Membership

A membership for disciplined, supported protocol care.

The membership includes protocol direction, structured check-in scheduling, and membership support. Required product-kit and checkout details will be confirmed during enrollment.

Membership FAQ

Are the protocol products required?

Yes. The required kit is integral to the protocol. Product selections and instructions are designed to work within the structured phases rather than as a mix-and-match skincare routine.

How often are check-ins?

Clinical check-ins are scheduled approximately every 4–8 weeks. Timing may vary according to your protocol phase and physician direction.

When can I expect a response to a message?

Routine membership messages are reviewed during the program’s stated business response window. Messaging is not monitored continuously and is not an emergency service.

What does compliance mean in this membership?

Compliance means following the assigned AM / PM instructions, using the required kit as directed, maintaining scheduled check-ins, and communicating when there is a concern that may affect your protocol.

Can I use this membership for urgent medical concerns?

No. The HFPS Protocol does not provide emergency care, urgent assessment, or 24/7 monitoring. For an emergency, call 911 or seek immediate in-person care. For an urgent medical concern, contact the appropriate local clinician or emergency service.

Important care notice

The HFPS Protocol is physician-directed care within the scope of this membership. It is not emergency care, urgent care, or a substitute for immediate in-person evaluation. Do not use protocol messaging for emergencies. Call 911 or seek local emergency care for a medical emergency.
